Is the Pampered Paws Toronto East Training Centre the grooming school for me?

Excellence

There’s so much more to grooming than styling and scissor work. The Pampered Paws Toronto East Training Centre goes the extra mile and strives for industry excellence in both our grooming and our training.

Because we’re constantly updating our own skills, our grooming school teaches cutting-edge industry techniques. We regularly attend Ontario Dog Groomers Association conventions to learn the latest techniques and trends.

Just like humans, animals have different fur textures and face shapes depending on their breed, plus styling trends that change over time. The best groomers constantly broaden their expertise and keep up with the latest tools to save time and make the grooming process easier and safer for pets.

Animals First

Part of your dog groomer training with us involves techniques for grooming difficult animals and tips to identify and accommodate health issues.

Life is hectic, and sometimes pet owners are in a rush; our job as groomers is always to prioritize the needs of the pet first. Providing each animal the care and attention they need is the key to avoiding unnecessary accidents and injuries.

There are some breeds that tend to be trickier to groom, like feisty terriers or anxious malteses. Other times, the dogs we are caring for need extra care due to physical issues like blindness, arthritis or illnesses. Additionally, age plays a very big role in grooming: younger dogs are not used to standing still or staying on the table, and older dogs are not physically or mentally up to the task of some grooming services (such as standing on tables without support).

Education

At our pet grooming school, you can expect a hands-on environment that gives you the time and patience you need to learn. We stand back enough to let you develop your skills, but provide the supervision and attention to detail necessary for great work. As you progress, we’ll show you extra adjustments and strategies to make the process more comfortable and efficient.

Groomers are natural educators, helping owners understand the less obvious needs of their pets and how to care for them. At our Scarborough grooming salon, we’ve even trained pet owners and co-op students how to bathe and maintain their pets.

Health & Safety

As groomers, we’re often the first person to notice health issues like arthritis or infections. By learning to spot common problems, we can work in tandem with owners and vets for the pets overall well-being.

Grooming is about hygiene—taking care of nails, ears and other areas that keep pets happy and healthy. Our grooming school focuses on the best practices to promote good health and avoid accidental injuries.
